Bai was a small child when the rebel soldiers raided his village. As he was escaping with 5 of his family members they were ambushed in the bush. Bai managed to escape but 5 of his family members were tied at the feet and all their hands were amputated. He watched in hiding as a small boy as this happened. He then ran as fast as he could to a neighboring village where he got help and managed to save the lives of his family members. Since that time, he dedicated his life to helping those amputated from the war. He also coaches the Freetown football amputee team. Daily life is also a struggle, he used the loan to open a small convenience store to better support himself and family.
